Mission
B(L)K/WMN is a space dedicated to and for Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and other creatives of Color. Founded by Black women, this space will support individuals in the pursuit of their dreams through creative strategy, classes, workshops, and events, provide a space to increase skills and strategies for health and wellness through life coaching, therapy/counseling, and other techniques, and allow people to be free in their identities as BIPOC individuals, surrounding them with a network and tribe. B(L)K/WMN will cultivate the reality that Black women and other people of Color are visible, that they show up, dream the impossible, and defy the improbable daily.
Room at the Table Virtual Series
B(L)K/WMN's Room at the Table Virtual Series is a platform to amplify the voices of Black and Brown women, and offer classes and workshops to encourage women of color during this challenging racial and public health climate. If you’re interested in hosting a workshop or class, sign up here! Click on the videos below for some of our previous workshops/classes!
I Got You Sis Fund
The B(L)K/WMN "I Got You, Sis" Fund was created by B(L)K/WMN as a simple way to support Black and Brown Women during the COVID-19 pandemic. Women of Color are one of the most vulnerable populations during a disaster, and are being disproportionately impacted by the Coronavirus due to pre-existing social vulnerability. B(L)K/WMN's mission is to make Black and Brown women visible, cultivating the reality that they show up everyday, dreaming the impossible and defying the improbable. This fund is to resist their erasure in the broader COVID-19 narrative, and provide material support in the face of the crisis. To the women in need: I got you, sis.
B(L)K/WMN learned from organizers like NYC Mutual Aid Project and Mariame Kaba about mutual aid and are thankful for their leadership and examples of how to do this. We encourage others to start projects like this in their own cities and communities.
Here’s how you can use this project:
Are you a Black or Brown Woman who has been directly impacted by COVID-19 and in need of financial assistance?
Are you able to contribute funds and support a Black or Brown Woman who has been impacted by this crisis?
We hope to be able to offer financial aid up to $100 USD per request. We will distribute funds on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee that you will receive funds. In order to help as many people as possible, please request the smallest amount that would reasonably help you. We ask that you keep this in mind, as we are not sure how many donations we will have or how many people will request aid.
